Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What if the class in which I want to enroll my child is not offered at a time that works for us?
A: Please let us know your scheduling needs! When we receive at least 3 requests for the same day/time range for a class, we will do our best to add it to our schedule.
Q: How do I pay my bill?
A: We accept payment via cash, check, Visa, Mastercard, Discover, or American Express. Do not send cash through the mail. You may bring cash, check, or a credit card to the reception desk to pay your bill, or you may mail a check or credit or debit card information to us at 3200 W. Main St., Lansing, MI 48917. You may also call with your credit or debit card information (517) 371-1800. For the ultimate convenience, you may set up your account to have your tuition automatically charged to your credit or debit card each month.
Q: Is gymnastics good for my child?
A: “Gymnastics and early childhood movement education is directly attributed to developing neurological pathways in students and promoting reading readiness.” (Raising-AReader, 1999) Preschool gymnastics prepares students for successful experiences in school. Children who have participated in movement education activities have longer attention spans, communication skills, general problem-solving skills, and improved self-esteem. “For every $1.00 spent on children’s recreational activities, society saves $4.78 in costs of remedial education, welfare, and crime prevention.” (Federal Committee for Economic Development, 1998)
Q: Should my child wear shoes to class?
A: No. Gymnasts in all classes should go barefoot, unless they have plantars warts, in which case they should wear special grip socks made for gymnastics. Contact our business office for more information.
Q: What if my child misses a class? Can he or she do a make-up?
A: If you call 24 hours in advance of a missed class, you may arrange for a makeup class for your child. Limit four makeup classes per semester per athlete.
Q: How will I know if my child is ready to move to a different class?
A: Your child’s progress is continually tracked by our coaching staff and your child’s coach will approach you when she or she has achieved the skills necessary to be promoted to another class. At that time you must contact our business office to make your new class selection.
Q: Do you have a parent viewing area?
A: We have a spacious viewing area, equipped with cushioned stadium seating, for parents to sit comfortably and watch their children or watch our cable television. We also have tables with cushioned chairs for parents who bring work to do while their children are in class. Bring your laptop with a wireless card and access our high speed Internet.
Q: Do I have to stay to watch my child?
A: No, unless your child is unable to use the restroom unassisted. If you plan to leave the facility while your child is in class, please be sure our Phenomenal Flips Gymnastics USA business office has your cell phone number on file so we can contact you in case of emergency.
Q: Are the instructors certified?
A: Yes, we have instructors who are certified through USA Gymnastics, the national governing body for the sport of gymnastics.
Q: To whom do I address my questions regarding instruction?
A: Feel free to ask questions of your child’s coach during the scheduled talk time before or after your child’s class (your coach will tell you your talk time when you get started in the class). Also, Head Coach Bill Waugh is always happy to talk to you about any questions or concerns you may have. Per Coach Bill, “I want you to feel free to come to me anytime you feel the need to talk to me. My coaching staff and I all are here to help your children be the best that they can be in every way! We are all here for you! Feel free to talk to your child’s coach, but if you need to talk to me, my door is always open. Sincerely, Head Coach Bill Waugh.”
